West-Mont School (WM) is a school that is committed to academic excellence and a caring learning environment. WM and its Board of Directors, the Western Communities Montessori Society (WCMS), recognizes that in order to offer a program based on these standards of excellence and to create the environment that maximizes the potential of its students, investment in the appropriate facilities and equipment is required.
In September 1998, the WCMS Board located, purchased and moved West-Mont School to its wonderful site in Metchosin. In order to provide the necessary capital for this investment, the refundable Student Bond Program was established. (The Student Bond was replaced by the “Family Bond” in April 2009. ) The on-going purpose of the bond program is to support the capital plan used to fund the long term capital needs of the School.
What is the price of the refundable Bond?
The purchase price of the refundable Family Bond for the 2009-10 school year is $5,000. Effective April 2009, only one bond is required per family.
What are the options for paying for the refundable Bond?
You may pay for the refundable Family Bond in full or finance it by applying for a Line of Credit with the School’s financial institution.
How does the Line of Credit (LOC) financing work?
If you choose to apply for the Line of Credit, you will complete the Vancity LOC application forms provided by WM and return them to the School. The School, in turn, submits the forms to Vancity and they will contact you. Your LOC application is completely confidential – the information you provide is strictly between you and Vancity.
When do I pay for the refundable Bond?
The Family Bond is a one time only, refundable purchase due on July 1st for enrolment the following September of the first child of the family. For students enrolling after July 1st, the bond will be due upon the student’s acceptance into the program.
Is the Bond required for all students?
No. Effective April 2009, the previous “Student Bond” program has been replaced with the “Family Bond” program. Under the Family Bond program, there is only one Bond required per family, regardless of the number of students in the family. Also, the amount of the Bond has been reduced to $5,000 from $9,000. The loan application process has also been significantly simplified and all applications will be approved.
Is the Bond refundable?
Yes the Bond is 100% refundable within 60 days of the withdrawal of the last student of the family.
May I donate the bond to West-Mont?
Yes, a Bondholder may donate the bond to WM and receive a charitable donation receipt, issued by WCMS. The donation may qualify for certain tax deductions so please consult your tax advisor.
