Love of Books Tea

The 17th annual Love of Books Tea was a great success. Thank you to all who supported this library fundraiser by purchasing 200 books to donate to our great collection. As well, grateful thanks go out to the volunteers working so hard behind the scenes to prepare for the tea and to process the books. Some of the unsold books that are particularly needed for the library will be purchased with the Times Colonist Grant the library received last fall. If there is anyone who did not have an opportunity to attend the tea and would like to purchase books, please see Liz in the library.

There were 106 fiction books donated and 94 non-fiction, and all reading levels and interests are catered to with these new additions. Teachers and students had an opportunity prior to the sale to indicate which books they were especially keen on having as part of the library, which now has close to 12,000 books.

The new books will be on display in the library and on the portable rack in the hallway as soon as they are catalogued and processed. This takes many hours and should be completed by the end of April.

The annual Love of Books Tea and Donation Sale is held every year in March. Let Liz know if you have any favourite titles or requests of books to be available for purchase and donation to the library at this event.

The Usborne Literacy Event of November resulted in a credit for the library of $180 which provided 11 new books for the collection. We accept donations of new and gently used books in good condition if they fill a need in our collection. If you wish to donate books, please contact Liz personally or leave a note with your contribution so they may be returned to the proper person if necessary.

Donations which are left without a contact name and are unsuitable for the Library will be disposed of.
