Principal's Message

Welcome to the West-Mont Montessori School website. After many years experience in other schools, I am very happy to join the excellent staff and families that make up this exceptional school.

The school itself is nestled beside Witty's Lagoon Park in the District of Metchosin. West-Mont is a unique school providing outstanding opportunities for its students. The first thing people notice as they arrive at the school is its park-like environment, including a large playing field, wooded playground, pond, student Learning Garden, fruit trees and Garry Oak reserve. Once inside the school you will notice the warm and friendly atmosphere.

As principal, I am delighted to meet grandparents of students who themselves attended West-Mont. New parents easily become part of the fabric of the school, participating in many ways. When a boy or girl comes to West-Mont we do more than enroll a student - we take in a family.

As children progress through the school, they have opportunities to develop their intrinsic abilities. The classrooms are so interesting, with a focus on Nature. The ratio of teachers to students is optimal. In the Pre-Kindergarten there are eight children per teacher. The elementary classes average 14 students per teacher. The classes are also multi-aged, so the children can teach each other and learn from each other.

Visitors to the School regularly remark upon the warmth and friendliness of students and staff at West-Mont and I warmly invite you to share in the experience.

Please take the opportunity to come and visit West-Mont to see our school in action. Each Thursday we have an Open House where visitors are welcome to come, see and feel what an excellent school is like.
