West-Mont is built on volunteers. Volunteers make fun events and activities possible. Each school year every West-Mont family agrees to provide at least 12 hours of volunteer service through participation in a variety of volunteer positions. For example, you might find yourself making play-dough, threading needles, coordinating the school dance, or becoming a member of the PAC executive. This award is entended to honour an exceptional member of the West-Mont school community for sustained and outstanding volunteerism. It is named in honour of Liz Koolman, who was the first recipient of the award.
As part of its responsibility to promote and recognize community spirit and volunteerism, the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) inaugurated the award in 2001 and is responsible for selecting recipients. The award is presented each year, based on a fair and transparent selection process and criteria. The winner is announced at the closing ceremonies on the last day of school each year.
