Fully Qualified Teachers

All classes are taught by fully qualified teachers, accredited by the BC College of Teachers. West-Mont follows the B. C. Curriculum with a strong emphasis on high academic performance.

Leadership and Special Events

With the multi-age groupings, as well as the leadership program, students develop leadership by serving as role models and leading younger students in a variety of activities, such as some of the popular West-Mont School Wednesday special events. These can include mountain biking, sea kayaking, team sports, arts and crafts, or woodworking. Intramural sports, including inter-school competitions, a comprehensive outdoor education program and daily physical education are a significant part of our curriculum.

As the school is located adjacent to Witty’s Lagoon Park, the students learn about nature first hand. The vibrant music program includes classes on our marimbas. West-Mont also has a Learning Resources teacher to help students who need to improve their academic performance. French is taught several times a week by a specialist French teacher.
